SolutionAI for legal teams

AI Legal Assistant, answers with sources.

An AI assistant for Thai legal officers. It researches legislation and judgments, analyses contracts and official letters, checks regulatory obligations and studies cases, and cites the section behind every point.

The AI Legal Assistant workspace. The sample question and answer cite real statutes and can be tried in the live demo below.

The context

Legal work runs on finding the right text, and trusting it.

Legal teams work from statutes, regulations, contracts, opinions and case files. The AI opportunity is to find the right passage faster and show exactly where every answer came from.

Codified law

Thai law is largely codified, with the Civil and Commercial Code at its core, so much legal work starts with finding the right provision.

Thai first

Legislation and court work are in Thai, so search and answers must handle Thai well. The workspace answers in Thai and English.

Personal data rules

Case files hold personal data. The Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019), where it applies, and each agency's own rules shape who may see what.

Courts and prosecutors

Built for courts, prosecutors and legal teams in Thailand.

General background, not legal advice. Specific rules, systems and volumes will come from the agencies during discovery.

What is the current issue?

Four modes, one shared problem: the right text is hard to find and hard to trust.

The issues under each area are working hypotheses to test with legal teams, not findings.

Legal research

Questions answered from legislation and judgments

  • Statutes, amendments and judgments sit in different places, so finding the right section depends on knowing where to look.
  • Keyword search misses passages that say the same thing in other words.
  • General AI chat tools answer without section citations, so they cannot be relied on.

AI opportunity. A question in plain Thai or English, answered with the governing sections, supporting judgments and the points to verify.

Document analysis

Contracts, regulations and official letters checked for legality and risk

  • Long contracts and letters are read end to end to find risky or unlawful terms.
  • Scanned or photographed documents have to be retyped before they can be checked.
  • Suggested wording changes are drafted by hand, clause by clause.

AI opportunity. Upload a PDF, Word file or scan, or paste the text, and get legality and risk findings with suggested redlines.

Regulatory compliance

A checklist of duties for a business or project

  • One project can touch many laws, and the full list of licences and duties is rarely in one place.
  • It is hard to tell which authority issues which licence.
  • Penalties are spread across each Act's own chapters.

AI opportunity. Describe the business or project and get the obligations, licences, authorities and penalties as one checklist.

See the compliance screen

Case analysis

Judgments on similar facts and the likely outcome

  • Finding judgments with similar facts means reading many decisions.
  • The governing principle is buried in long reasoning.
  • Early advice on a likely outcome depends on the individual's experience.

AI opportunity. Describe the facts and get the governing principles, comparable judgments and a likely tendency, marked as not a ruling.

How can AI help?

AI-driven workflows that end with a person's decision.

Each workflow starts from work legal teams already do. Retrieval and extraction do the reading, an AI agent drafts, and a named person decides.

From a question to a cited answer

A legal officer asks in plain words and gets the governing sections, supporting judgments and the points to check.

  1. 1 Legal officer

    Asks in plain words

Types the question in Thai or English, or picks an example.

  2. 2 AI retrieval

    Finds the sections

Searches legislation and judgments and ranks the passages that matter.

  3. 3 AI agent

    Writes from the sources

Answers under fixed headings, with a numbered citation on each point.

  4. 4 Legal officer

    Checks the sources

Opens the cited sections and reads the points to verify.

  5. 5 Outcome

    Research on file

The answer can be copied, rated, or saved to a case after login.

Today

Search each source separately, then read whole Acts and judgments to find the section that matters.

With AI

One question, a structured answer with citations, and a clear list of what still needs checking.

The intelligence layer

One platform under all four modes.

The four modes share one data layer and one set of AI services, so each new use reuses what is already built. Data flows up, and citations and checks wrap every step.

  1. Legal sources

Legislation and judgments, with citations kept

    • Acts and codes
    • Royal Decrees and regulations
    • Supreme Court judgments
    • Official translations
  2. Data layer

    Clean, split, labelled

    • Thai text and OCR
    • Section splitting
    • Citation labels
    • File upload, up to 40 MB
  3. Intelligence

Retrieval finds the passages, the model writes from them with citations

    • Search and ranking
    • Extraction
    • Risk and redline checks
    • Grounded answers
    • AI agent, Thai and English
  4. What people use

Issue

Who should a victim sue when a state official commits a wrongful act in the course of duty?

Applicable law

Act on Liability for Wrongful Acts of Officials, B.E. 2539 (1996), Sections 5, 6 and 7.

Analysis

Under Section 5, when a wrongful act is committed by an official in the course of duty, the state agency bears liability to the injured person. The injured person may sue the state agency directly, but may not sue the official (unofficial translation).

The Act's preamble explains the aim: to remove the misconception that officials must always bear personal liability for acts done in the course of duty for the agency's benefit .

If the act is not committed in the course of duty, Section 6 makes the official personally liable, and the injured person may sue the official directly but not the state agency .

Section 7 adds a procedural route: the party sued may apply to the court to summon the other party into the lawsuit .

Supporting judgments

Supreme Court Judgment No. 3648/2549 held that under Section 5 the state agency bears liability for wrongful acts of its officials in the course of duty, and the injured person may sue the agency directly but not the official .

Contrasting judgments

None retrieved.

Likely tendency (not a ruling)

Strong. The statutory rule is explicit: when the wrongful act is in the course of duty, the victim must sue the state agency. The key factual question is whether the act was "in the course of duty". If it was a personal act outside duty, the victim must sue the official personally.

Points to verify

  • Whether the entity sued is a "state agency" under Section 4 of the Act and the relevant Royal Decree .
  • Whether the act was done "in the course of duty" or outside it, which decides the defendant under Sections 5 and 6 .
  • Whether another law sets a different rule for the type of official or agency involved.
